SMILE!!!

While Grandma Deanna was here, we took Caleb to get his first pictures taken. I was worried about how he would do, but he surprised me. He was in a terrific mood, smiled some for the camera, and even tolerated three clothing changes! It was so hard to choose which photos to get, but these are some of our favorites.

Getting Stronger

Caleb continues to grow and he's getting much stronger too. He can now easily hold up his head and his chest when he's on the floor. He's also laughing and smiling all the time now. It's like music to our ears to hear his sweet little voice. He also hit a big milestone a couple days ago when he managed to sleep through the night for the first time. We were so proud of him! He continues to amaze us each and every day. He's definitely the greatest blessing we've been given.

Spending Time with Grandma Deanna

Caleb got to have his first visit with Grandma Deanna, while she was here for a week while Darrin was away in Texas. He got to know her well and misses her now that she is gone.

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had a wonderful first Valentine's Day with Caleb. As you can see, Caleb was overwhelmed with excitement over all of his presents! We spent the morning celebrating as a family and then Caleb made his first trip to the airport to pick up Grandma Deanna.

Growing...

Well, Caleb is two months old now, and in his doctor's words he is a "moose"! He weighs 14 pounds 2 ounces and is 24 inches long. It's simply amazing how fast he is changing. I am keeping busy taking care of Caleb during my maternity leave and Darrin is working hard at Reynolds. Darrin is getting ready to head to Texas for a week of training on the new John Deere Sprayers. While he is gone, his mom Deanna will be here from Northwestern Kansas to stay with Caleb and I. It will be the first time Caleb gets to see his Grandma Deanna, so we are really excited and looking forward to the time together.

A night out on the town

We had a big night out one Saturday night. Hamilton Southeastern High School's FFA puts on a big fundraiser every year with Donkey Basketball. Many of the businesses around here put together teams and participate in the Donkey Basketball tournament. Reynolds Farm Equipment (where Darrin works) always has a team, so we got tickets and we all went. Many of our friends and several of the people I work with went as well. Caleb did pretty well with all of the people and the noise at first, but once the game got underway and everyone was yelling and cheering, he wasn't so sure. After taking a break in the hallway, he was happy to go back into the gym. All in all it was a fun night out for our family.

Big Accomplishment

Caleb's most recent accomplishment that he has been working so hard on is holding up his head. He's doing really well and is now even pushing his chest and head up with his arms.

After a long night...

As a first time mom, I have discovered a whole new kind of exhaustion! Caleb and I have had a few nights where he has liked to be up for hours in the middle of the night. It's a good thing he's so cute and loveable, so he's well worth all the sleepless nights. His sleeping patterns are getting better, which is good for both of us.

Daddy's Boy!

Caleb is always happy when daddy comes home. Even if he has been fussy all afternoon, daddy comes home, and it's like everything is right in the world. Caleb loves to sit in daddy's arms and chill out. Whenever Darrin is holding him he just stares at him and seems to listen to everything he is saying. Darrin doesn't mind at all. The first thing he does when he walks through the door is pick Caleb up and tell him how much he loves him and how much he has missed him all day. They are quite a pair.

Look at what I can do!

Caleb has learned how to hold onto his ring toys and even managed to bring them to his mouth. If you listen carefully, at the end of this video you can hear him make some sounds. He's growing up so fast!

Reynolds Farm Equipment Open House

On January 17th, Reynolds Farm Equipment where Darrin works had a big open house celebration. My parents and I took Caleb down to join the celebration. Caleb was all decked out in his finest John Deere attire. Once again, he slept through the event, but was the hit of the party. Darrin was a proud dad and had a great time showing him off to everyone.

My first church service

When he was 1 month old, Caleb made his first trip to church. He was all decked out in his new outfit from his great Uncle Jim and great Aunt Carrie in Wisconsin. He slept through the church service but still managed to steal the show. Everyone was eager to see him, and we certainly didn't mind showing him off.

Bath Time

Caleb's favorite time is bath time. No matter when we give him a bath, he is alert, happy, and full of smiles! He only gets grumpy when we have to take him out and dry him off.

Our first Christmas as a Family

We had a wonderful first Christmas as a family. It was such a special time thinking back to that first Christmas when God sent his son into the world. We spent Christmas Eve at our house with my parents (Rita and Mike), my brother Pat, my sister Michaela, and my Aunt Sharon. We opened presents and spent a wonderful evening together. Caleb slept through most of the excitement. Christmas Day was spent with Caleb making his first trip to Grandma Rita and Grandpa Mike's house. We had a wonderful meal with everyone and enjoyed our stocking surprises that Santa left for us.

Our little miracle!!!

We welcomed our son Caleb Michael Roberts into the world on December10, 2008, at 5:06am. He was 7 pounds 11 ounces and 21 inches long.
